PLACES XI
Leva Kungslador is a constantly evolving space on the island of Gotland, Sweden where you can find a bakery, a restaurant, an outdoor concert venue, a little farm shop, a ceramic studio/ shop, etc. It is a true multi-functional space.
This project is very in keeping with the parent company's vision of what a building, or architecture, should be- simply a space where the occupant determines the use. It should be built with the best materials and devoid of all frills. Bare bones. They think people lives and needs change and that the building should be able to accommodate those changes.

MOUNTAIN HOUSES
Add on:
When Sam saw this post, he was thoroughly disappointed that I had not thought to include the subject of two recent emails he sent me (actually, he's becoming suspicious that I don't actually read his email links). So here they are: the Greek Orthodox's island monastery, Mount Athos, and the Bhutan monastery, Tiger's Nest.

KURT COBAIN
I realize this obsession is nearly 20 years late, but the lack of a television growing up and the absence of an older sibling made the 90s a decade that I feel I missed.
But my god, Kurt Cobain is amazing.
(My friend has promised me a 90s cultural-recap one night soon, so I have a feeling there will be more plaid button ups, long greasy hair and doc martens to come...)

THE ARTIST
Jacob Dahlgren
Colour reading and contexture
Jacob Dahlgren is a Swedish painter, sculptor and conceptual artist who finds abstraction in everyday objects- often using repetition and scale to conceptualize the seemingly mundane material.
This is my favorite, but check out his other work too!

AMY MERRICK, BROOKLYN
It's no wonder I was drawn to Amy Merrick's aesthetic- she was, prior to working under her own name, Saipua's floral designer. I love the muted colors, loose composition and inclusion of unexpected materials. She makes it look easy!
