PIERRE LE HORS

Somewhere between searching for new house numbers and figuring out how to renew my passport, I stumbled upon the French born New York artist, Pierre Le Hors. More specifically, his book called Firework Studies.

Le Hors describes the photos:
"By constraining nearly all tonal values to stark blacks and pure whites, the trails, explosions and clouds of debris are reduced to a series of simple repeated formal elements: arched lines, spherical bursts, and randomly dispersed particles."

The book, a hand-sewn softcover in an edition of 500, was published last December by Hassla, a small New York City press specializing in artists' work.
